Rope Tales is pleased to present a deeply focused workshop in Milan.
Gote is more than a shape. Gote is a topos in Japanese culture. Being “gote” -literally “hands behind”- means to be forestalled, deprived of initiative. In traditional Japanese games “gote” is the player who makes the second move, after “sente” has played.
During this workshop we will not talk about the pattern of any specific gote. We will analyze the general structure of any tie securing the hands behind the back. We will learn to create and improvise different bindings for different bodies, different types of load (torsions, verticals, backbends…) and different contexts.
